In Ndetani Village, Kikumbulyu North ward, Makueni County, Kenya, a once-dry and degraded landscape is undergoing a remarkable revival. Through the "Earth Smiles" initiative, semicircular bunds and terraces are being introduced alongside holistic planned grazing to restore the land. These bunds trap rainwater that would otherwise run off, reducing soil erosion and creating the perfect conditions for grass and vegetation to flourish once more.
