International Women’s Day at Siembeni: A Celebration of Strength and Unity

On a hot, sunny morning in Siembeni, Makueni County, a vibrant procession was unfolding. The streets were filled with the joyful sounds of music, chants, and laughter as people gathered to celebrate International Women’s Day. This year, Utooni Development Organisation, in partnership with Fadhili Trust, had organized a powerful event to honor the achievements and resilience of women.

Women from all corners of the county came together, proudly marching through the village, holding banners with inspiring messages like “Empowered Women Empower the World” and “Strength in Unity.” The procession began at the heart of Siembeni, where the energy was electric. Local drummers played traditional rhythms while young girls danced, embodying the spirit of hope and future leadership.
